Heather Fischer

Heather Fischer has been working at the Legal Aid Society since October 2007.  She has been Assistant Director since July 2011.  She is originally from the Houston area and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001.  She received her law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2006 and has been licensed to practice law since then.

Heather has known since she was very young that she wanted to use her education to help people in some way.  Once she started law school, she knew she wanted to work for a legal aid organization and was very excited when she got the opportunity to work at the Legal Aid Society.  In addition to her work as a staff attorney, Heather supervises the other attorneys and assists the Executive Director with grant-writing and grant management. She likes to think that her work at the Legal Aid Society helps people get a fresh start that they will use to better their lives and the lives of their children.
